Randall and I have these neighbors across from us who are always congregating on their front porch. If the wife isn't out here, the husband is, or both, plus others. Honestly, I hadn't really noticed very much but they seem to watch everything we do and whom we talk to.

One night, Randall and I were leaving for the grocery store when he overheard one of them make a snide comment about how we 'only go places at night'. Randall could not overhear much else, but it sounded pretty judgmental and down right rude.

Well, Randall has always felt overheated when being out in hot temperatures and would feel very weak and tired if we stay out too long. And recently it has gotten to be a concern. On July 4th, we hung out in downtown Nashville for most of the day. It was very hot through early evening and he began throwing up so bad, he had to visit the ER for fluids. Well, they just told him it was heat exhaustion and to follow up with his dr. Well, the same thing happened over this weekend. He got so sick, we had to call an ambulance. After they ran blood tests, he found out that he has a serious condition called rhabdomyolyosis. This condition causes muscle tissue to break down rapidly and can make someone very sick, needing hospitalization for treatment. It also causes a person to overheat very quickly when it is hot and humid. So, to prevent this from happening again, his doctor explained very candidly that he cannot be outside in hot conditions for more than 10 minutes at a time, or better yet, none at all. He HAS to wait for the weather to cool down before doing anything. He can't even do yard work unless it's cooler. And when he goes to work in hot conditions, he MUST cool his car down first.

So these fucking people across from us just sit out there for a good chunk of the day or night, drinking their beer, making their rude comments and staring whenever we go somewhere, have the fucking nerve to criticize us for only leaving at night? Well, aren't you two just better than anyone else! Yet I hardly see you go anywhere! We have our reasons for staying in a cooled environment in the summer and not risk having to be rushed to the hospital when puking your guts out from overheating.

Yes, it sucks that Randall is a young guy, but it doesn't mean that he or anyone else is indestructible. Everyone has something about themselves that they cannot change, such as a chronic illness. I have my limits too. When it is hot outside, I feel my joints swelling up to the point where I must rest as much as possible. After one day of walking around in the heat for 6 to 8 hours, I feel like I have been hit by a truck. It's what I've been doing since Saturday night. And don't even get me started on how bad the sun drains my energy. I literally feel the life being sucked out of me. This is why I wish more people would be a little more understanding rather than judgmental.

In other words, don't be a dick. You don't know what people are going through.

Answer for question 4600.

What's your favorite beverage that you drink often (daily or near-daily)? Why do you enjoy it so much?
Mostly water - Spring water, if I can get it, caffeine/aspartame free sodas (Sparkling Ice), and apple or orange juice. Why? Well, to stay hydrated. Soda is just something I have to have for that fizzy texture, especially with a meal. I suppose it's kind of a habit.

Happy New Year !!!

Answer for question 4566.

What is your favorite physical activity, either specifically for exercise purposes or just for fun? What do you like the most about it? What's one new sport or activity you'd like to get into but haven't yet?
If I had to pick, it's ice skating, but I don't get to do it very often. What I like most about it is the ice and cool environment actually helps relieve my RA and fibro. If I could do it every day, I think I would feel a lot better.

Years ago, I was doing yoga and step aerobics several times a week, but I started getting effed up symptoms and stopped. As far as a sport, I doubt my body could handle that. I would love to do yoga again though. It helps me relax and stay focused.
